A GROUP OF OBJECTS FOR THE SCHOLAR'S DESK, comprising a small bronze figure of a lion weight, its right foot upon a cash-pattern ball and looking backward to the right, the tail upraised, its mouth open to expose its fangs, the patination a deep brown, Ming Dynasty, 7.6cm. long; a moulded lobed oval inkstick, one face with a dwelling in a mountainous landscape, the other with gilt lotus and characters (cracked), probably 18th Century, 7.3cm. long; a carved bamboo wrist-rest, the curved surface with 'The Three Friends', pine, prunus and bamboo accompanied by an inscription, the bamboo a rich brown tone, late 18th/19th Century, 21.6cm. long; and a celadon-glazed deep brush-pot, bidong, on three small rounded feet, with flattened rim, the straight sides carved with a lotus meander above a petal-panel band and below a key-pattern band, all under a bright celadon glaze, 19th Century, 22cm. diam.
