Lot Essay

The tazza with the scene depicted was made in 1607 by Paulus van Vianen (1565/70-1613).
Christian van Bracht (1637-1720) was born in Holland in 1637 and worked as a painter in Amsterdam. In 1669 he moved to Copenhagen, where he did lacquer and marble decorations for the court, for example in several rooms of the Rosenborg. He also made miniature reliefs and frames.
Work of him is in the National Museum and Kunstindustrietmuseum in Copenhague.
