Van Dongen used the same model in full length for a large painting from the same year "La Chemise d'Argent" (see Ecl. Des Courieres, Van Dongen, Paris 1925, no. 72).
In 1919 Van Dongen took his audience in the Salon d'Automne with surprise. He exhibited three portraits of elegant young ladies among others "La Chemise d'Argent". In these years Van Dongen became the painter of the beau monde for whom the new look had become fashionable
