The oval channelled cresting centred by an acanthus spray above a padded back and seat covered in tan and cream-patterned cotton, the reeded serpentine-fronted seat-rail ornamented with domed patera, the rounded angles carved with rosettes on beaded and guilloche-carved fluted turned tapering legs and reeded feet, restorations to back, later blocks, with cramps cuts to the underside, previously painted

This rail-pattern features on chairs thought to have been supplied in the 1770s by Mayhew and Ince for Cobham Hall, Kent, in the 1770s (see: J. Cornforth, 'Cobham Hall', Country Life, 10 March 1983, p. 571, fig. 10).
