Lot Essay

The artist lived and worked between 1883-1889 in Villa des Arts in Paris. During this period he exhibited in the Salon.
In 1887 for instance he showed Un poste de Gendarme sans le Premier Empire, and in 1889 two pictures namely Une Noce au Musée de Cluny and Le Pillage.
In 1886 he also showed a picture called 'La Fête du Curé' in the Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts
He was a pupil of Alex Cabanel and Benjamin Constant
