Lot Essay

It has been suggested that this could be an early work by Swart, when he was still under the influence of Maerten van Heemskerck, this is most apparent in the figure of Achan.
Kerrich was the author of the first catalogue of the work of Maerten van Heemskerck, published in 1829, and may have regarded the present lot as by the artist
