The battle has tentatively been identified by Dr R.B. Prud'homme van Reine of the Scheepvaart Museum Amsterdam as the battle in the Sont in 1658. In this battle between the Dutch and Swedish fleets, Lieutenant Admiral Jacob van Wassenaar Obdam and Vice-Admiral Witte de With defeated the Swedish fleet under Admiral Wrangel
