In the early 1930s Grimmon was asked by the manager and designer of the Utrechtse Machinale Stoel- en Meubelfabriek to design furniture which would be the beginning of the 'Pas-toe-system'. However, the pieces Grimmon designed for the factory were too severe and perfect in style to be mass-produced. Only two prototypes still exist which were executed by the factory after Grimmon's designs. One, a chest of drawers, is in the collection of the Centraal Museum, Utrecht and the other is the cabinet offered for sale here.
