A SILVER-GILT AND NIELLO TANKARD
maker's mark in Cyrillic D.V in oval, Moscow, 1859, assay master I. Avdiev

Of tapering cyilndrical form with banding, the centre of the body decorated all around with raised sroll and trelliswork surrounding a panelled view of a cathedral and another of the Kremlin (?), alternating panels of stylised foliate foliate ornament, all over a matted ground, the base of the body with an inscription in Cyrillic, the cover with conforming decoration and centre with an engraved cockerel, and with a split-thump-piece and S-scroll handle - 15cm high (631gr)
