A RARE WALNUT AND EBONIZED SILVER-MOUNTED TEA-CASKET

The shaped walnut casket decorated with silver and ebonized bands, on four shaped feet, the shaped lock-plate and handle decorated with naturalistic flowers, the interior fitted with three oval cylindrical tea-caddies, the mixing-caddy with slightly domed cover with naturalistic flower, the two flanking caddies each decorated with an engraved floral band and centred with raised lift-off cover with applied naturalistic flower, plain silver hinges and lock, the six plain spoons pierced with trellis-work and shell ornament - 23cm long, 16,5cm high

Another similar almost identical casket by the same maker containing also three caddies but with four fitted spoons was sold at Christie's in Laren on the 19th of October 1976 as lotnumber 541
