Lot Essay

The attribution has been kindly suggested (oral information) by Dr Sam Segal, who noted the similarity of the treatment of the vegetables in De Vos' Ceres in the Consejo de Estado, Madrid (see M. Diaz Padrón, Tres lienzos de Martin de Vos, identificados en el Consejo de Estado y en la collecion Osuna, Boletin del Museo del Prado, III, 1982, no. 7, p. 5, fig. 2); the crab recurs in the Thetis in the collection Osuna (op.cit., p. 6, fig. 3)
