A Collection of 26 works by Theo Lohmann (Lots 124-129) Theo Lohmann (1880-1963) was a self taught artist from 't Gooi, a popular area for artists just east of Amsterdam. He was in close contact wiht among others, Floris Verster, Bart van der Leck and Jan Toorop. Living in a caravan for many years, he was a much travelled man. The diversity of styles is striking Lohmans works. His art varies from detailed and pointillistic drawings, post-impressionist and cubist landscapes to "magisch realistische" compositions. Jan Toorop, in possession of some of Lohmanns drawings, once said about the artist:"Deze jeugdige kunstenaar bezit een wijze van zien en voelen, die oorspronkelijk is. En dat zegt veel. Men heeft hier te doen met individueel, fijn, gevoelig, opgewekt, sober, frisch en gezond werk." Pusthumus exhibitions were held in Museum de Lakenhal (Leiden 1964) and the Rosa Spier Huis (Laren 1986).
