Lot Essay

H. van Dorp (1872-1936) was trained at the Quillinus School in Amsterdam after which he designed furniture for a.o. the firm for Jansen & Zonen in Amsterdam. He received the 'Medaille d'Or' for the furniture he designed for working-class houses in 1916 and for the furniture he designed for L'Exposition Internationale des Art Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris in 1925
