Two extant versions of this composition (in reverse), both accepted as by Dou, are known: one, on panel, 41 x 30.5 cm, is recorded in the collection of the Duke of Devonshire (see W. Martin, Gerard Dou, 1913, p. 130); the other, on panel, 31 x 23 cm, was last recorded in the Sydney van den Bergh collection, Wassenaar, in 1968 (W. Martin, op.cit., p. ... ; photograph in the R.K.D.)
