A SILVER TORAH SHIELD (TAS)
Nuremberg, early 19th Century

Of rectangular form with slightly arched top, the central section with engraved Tablets of the Law above a compartment, holding four engraved Festival plaques (double-sided inscribed), flanked by applied tapering columns with cast rampant lions, supporting a three-dimensional crown fitted inside by a gilt bell, the lower section engraved in Hebrew with later (1931) presentation inscription, hung with four gilt bells (two are missing), includes suspension chain - 31.5cm high (1015gr)
