A 50 cm. diameter terrestrial library globe made up of twelve chromolithographed gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in degrees and hours, the meridian of Paris and the equinoctial colure graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with sigils, the oceans shaded to six degrees of depth and showing warm and cold ocean currents, submarine cables and numerous steamship routes with ports of arrival and departure and journey time in days, with initials for the shipping company running the line and coloured according to nationality, the continents with nation states variously shaded in outline and showing rivers, mountains, towns, cities, railway and telegraph lines, caravan routes, the Imperial route from Trebizond to Peking and the Great Wall of China (numerous abrasiosn, discolourations and areas of paper loss, triangular dent approx. 7cm at widest point over north-east Russia, with paper loss, plaster loss and a hole to the cardboard sphere) with a stamped aluminium meridian half-circle, raised on a tapering mahogany column and circular plinth base -- 130 cm. high
