LONDON., circa 1840, the equatorial graduated in degrees and hours, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with symbols, the oceans with an analemma and showing the tracks Cook, Vancouver, Biscoe and others with numerous dates and notes such as Manuel Rodriguez Rk according to Anson, Wakes Ledge nearly even with water's edge, Campbells 1810 uninhabited and others, the continentsdelicately hand-outlined in green for the shore and orange with the inner coastline, with much detail of place names and rivers, China with the Great Wall and national boundaries shown in dotted outline, the South Polar calotte almost blank save six small notes but showing Balleny I.s 1839 and no Wilke's Land, mounted in a modern unengraved brass meridian circle, in an earlier mahogany stand, the hand-coloured paper horizon showing degrees of amplitude and azimuth, compass directions ans days of the month and of the houses of the zodiac, raised on four baluster-turned legs united by baluster-tuurned cross-stretchers -- 55 cm. high
