Inlaid overall with rosette-trellis within boxwood and ebony borders, the pierced Vitruvian-scroll three-quarter galleried rectangular top above a panelled frieze enclosing a green leather-lined slide above a well and three compartments, the laurel-swagged rectangular tapering legs inlaid with simulated flutes, above a concave-fronted stretcher with similar gallery and ormolu sabots, bearing the false stamp DUBOIS and JME twice

Lot Essay

Identical marquetry appears on a sécrétaire à abattant by Dubois that was sold anonymously at Sotheby's New York, 8 December 1991, lot 83. Closely related marquetry is also shared with a sécrétaire in the Getty Museum, Malibu (no. 72DA60)
