A GERMAN JEWELLED GOLD AND MOTHER-OF-PEARL BOX SET WITH A MINIATURE
circa 1860/1870, bearing prestige marks, the enamel by André Rouquet, circa 1750

Rectangular box, the cover, sides and base set with gold-mounted mother-of-pearl panels richly decorated with gold scrolls and foliage, the cover centered by a diamond-bordered oval enamel portrait of Tsar Peter the Great of Russia wearing rich armour and the blue sash of the Imperial Russian Order of Saint-Andrew, the corners set with flowers formed by diamonds, the base applied with a circular gold reserve with pierced initials "HAC" -- 88 mm wide
