Lot Essay

Russian ceramic objects with silver mounts by Fabergé are quite rare, especially those made in the Moscow workshop. For a similar silver and ceramic bowl also in a form of duck see Christie's New York, February 11, 1982, lot 362. Both examples reflect an Art Nouveau interpretation of traditional forms and designs inspired by Russian folk art.
