Rectangular box with rounded corners, the lid with a central oblong oval plain gold reserve set with the scrolled gold initials "ML" below a Royal crown, the cover, base and sides engine-turned and framed by blue enamelled stripes, foliage and palmettes -- 87 mm wide

Lot Essay

The initials are those of Queen Maria-Luisa (1751-1819), wife of King Charles IV of Spain. Among her seven children are the future King Ferdinand VII (see lot 110) and the duke of Cadiz (see lot 109).
