This battery looks out over French Creek and the three cities, with the imposing Palace of the Grand Masters to the left, and Valletta in the distance. The battery is still in the process of contruction. The three British blockading vessels can be seen on the horizon. Mast-tops (two of them flying the tricoleur) in Grand Harbour and Dockyard Creek reveal the location of the three French ships while others flying red and white pennants reveal the Galleys surrendered by the Order. Overlooking them is the famous Macina, the huge wooden crane used by the Order to mast its galleys. The armament here is thoroughly mixed, comprising four naval ships cannons, one large coastal defence ordnance and three mortars of differing patterns.
