FINE KUNIHIRO TANTO WITH AIKUCHI KOSHIRAE
The blade with part bevelled ridge line (kanmuri zukuri), mitsu mune, without curve, small point (ko-gissaki), fine and closely forged itame mixed with light mokume (Horikawa hada) and bright sunagashi along the length of the blade to both sides, tempered edge suguba with slight undulations of brilliant ko-nie, suguha boshi, tang slight machi okuri, signed Kunihiro (1531-1614), 29.7cm., in a fine shirasaya with detachable lining (ire-kozaka).
The mounts roiro-nuri lacquered saya, with kurikata and fuchi-kashira, the braided brown baleen tsuka bearing a pair of shakudo and copper menuki in the form of horsetail plants with gold coloured seeds, Edo period.
Accompanied by koshu tokubetsu kicho certificate no.15402 for the blade and N.B.T.H.K. certificate no.444 for the mounts
