A BLUE LACED MOGAMI DO
The twenty-four iron plate helmet bowl inlaid in nunome zogan style with lizard and butterflies with large iron five-stage tehen kanamono taken from earlier helmet probably of Muromachi period and mabizashi covered with printed leather, the three-plate lacquered leather neck guard (Ichi manju shikoro) with large fukigaeshi partly covered with leather decorated with a gilt kiku leaves' mon; the black lacquered iron mempo with moustache and three-plate yodarekake; the iron black lacquered cuirass (Mogami do) having seven-section of iron plates; a pair of medium six-plate lacqured Mogami style shoulder guards (chu sode); a pair of iron armoured sleeves, black lacqured Shino style (kote) with hawk's feather mon; gilt lacquered thigh guards (haidate); and a pair of matching iron shinguards (suneate), all the brocade decorated with dragonflies (koto, haidate and suneate matching but associated with armour), late Edo period (19th century)
