This statue is a study for one of the four Baigneuses which surrounded the swimming pool at the house of the collector Maurice Fenaille in Neuilly-sur-Seine. He commissioned the Baigneuses in 1899, the other in the group being Baigneuse se peignant, Baigneuse se réchauffant and Baigneuse en Manteau.

Sold with a letter from the Musée Rodin confirming the authenticity of this work, dated Paris le 26 Juin 1987
