8° (156 x 101mm), woodcut printer's device on verso of last leaf. (Two marginal stains). Contemporary brown morocco, sides tooled in blind and gilt into geometrical compartments, gilt fleurons and fleurs-de-lys at angles, gilt arabesque in the centre, spine gilt with raised bands (ties lacking). Provenance: Given to Sir Walter Mildmay (1520-89), chancellor of the exchequer and founder of Emmanuel College, Cambridge, by Antonio Briscetto, Genoese ambassador, in 1550. He has added the verse "Chi è rio & per buon è tenuto Prio far il mal & non è creduto". (on rear endpaper). Mildmay's signature and a greek motto on front fly-leaf.
