KANT, Immanuel (1724-1804). Autograph letter signed ('I Kant') to Kriegsrath Hippel ('Ew. Wohlgeb.'), [Königsberg], 29 July 1784, in an unusually humorous tone complaining about the loud disturbing singing by some of the inmates of the prison - pretending to be very godfearing - who wanting to save their souls, believe that God will only hear them when they shout, like marksmen hitting the target. But as at the same time they are keeping the good citizens of the town awake, he asks Hippel (who is clearly in charge of the prison) to put an end to this disturbance, one page, folio (293 x 204mm), conjugate leaf, blank except the name of the addressee, traces of red seal.

'Ew.
