Mirabeau, imprisoned for the seduction of the young wife of the Marquis de Monnier, was released in 1780, and for several years made a tenuous living living in England, from his writings. Alexandre d'Arblay, La Grange, 31 October 1832, acknowledging a letter and regretting he was unable to see his correspondent, fondly remembering him and hoping to see him soon, ½ page, 4to, integral address leaf (repaired). DUMOURIEZ, Charles François Duperier (1739-1823, General). Autograph letter signed (with initials) to Monsieur Lavalette de Fortier, n.p. [England], 26 February 1816, arguing that the need for expatriation is over, the monarchy is restored, and there is a need for considerable capital to settle in England, 3 pages, 4to, address panel. Dumouriez defected to the Austrians in April 1793 and was exiled first in Germany and from 1803 in England. (9)
