[DARTON, William I (1755-1819) engraver ? ]. The Infant's Museum or book of pictures. London: printed and sold by Darton, Harvey and Darton...1818.
16° (92 x 120mm). 16 leaves, the sheet printed on one side. Engraved throughout, title with two images, and 30 illustrations with captions arranged 2 per page (grubby). (Disbound, a blue sugar-paper cover, lettered by Mrs. Moon is attached). David p.12.
From the image of a direction post "To Plaistow" on f.9 it is believed that this book of pictures, and its successor below, were engraved by William Darton during his retirement at Plaistow before his death in 1819. The way in which the engraved titling in both books has been "crammed" around the pictures, it suggests that Darton sent in plates to the firm who then made them up into little books.
