6° (133 x 102mm). Six pages, each with an illustration between two stanzas of verse, the sheet printed on one side. Engraved throughout and hand-coloured at the publisher's, the second leaf with at title "The School-boy: by M.. Upton", the fifth leaf with the imprint "London: William Darton...Sep. 1 1820". The leaves side-sewn into cerise paper wrappers with a letterpress label on upper cover. Provenance: John Lucas Moore The Gift of his affec. Grandpapa Oswald Allen. Osborne II p.668 (apparently a different issue).
Originally devised to be published as a single printed sheet with a title centred at its head and an imprint at its foot. Now divided, folded and sewn to make a picture book.
