etchings with engravings, including a printed title, an engraved portrait of G. B. Piranesi by Felice Polanzani, a double sheet etched title plate (in the second state with the dedication to Lord Charlemont erased), a two page preface with ornamental capital initial, imprimatur and list of available works, a double sheet plan of Rome, five plates referring to the Severan marble map of Rome (three double and two fold-out) and 58 small etchings printed two to a single sheet and numbered Tav. VIII (fig. I and fig. II) to Tav. XXXVII (fig. I and fig. II), a topographical map of Rome (fold-out plate) a six page 'explanation' and four page 'observation' both with ornamental capital and two vignettes, five single-sheet and one double-sheet plan with ten pages of related indices, two with ornamental capitals and two-page 'repertorio' (index)

etchings, including 54 plates, an etched title and table of contents with nine other single-sheet plates, an etched frontispiece and 42 double-sheet plates, and one fold out plate. The figures in many of plates were etched by Jean Barbault. Three of the plates in the set are by Girolamo Rossi after Buonamici.
