Lot Essay

A large architectural drawing by Daubenton is at the Städelschen Kunstinstitut, Frankfurt, (M. Stuffman, Französische Zeichnungen im Städelschen Kunstinstitut , exhib. cat., Frankfurt, 1987, no. 158, illustrated) and reproduced along with it is a print by Germain signed Daubenton in the Berlin Kunstbibliothek (O.S. 3560). Daubenton studied architecture with Blondel and taught at the Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées from 1775 to 1794.
