Four autograph versions of the present drawing are known. The closest to the present sheet, including the two doves at the upper left, is in the British Museum, K.T. Parker, Sinibaldo Scorza, Old Master Drawings, March 1927, pl. 60. Two other versions with only the wolf are known, one at Holkham, C. Whitfield and G. Naughton, Old Master Drawings from Holkham, exhib. cat., Thos. Agnew and Sons Ltd., London, 1977, no. 87, illustrated, and the other with De Vries, Dessins de maîtres anciens et modernes, Amsterdam, 1929, p. 241, illustrated. Mary Newcome Schleier points out that a study of the two doves is at Cracow (inv. 688).
