An unusual William IV silver gilt inkstand comprising two lobed glass inkwells each with detachable cover richly chased with matted foliage, on shaped oval base pierced with chinoiserie motifs and central taperstick on similar base, the stem with three cast putti supporting an acanthus sconce with plain detachable nozzle, maker's mark WE probably for William Eley, 1834, on carved wood base with similarly pierced chinoiserie motifs, width 15in.
