Lot Essay

These serpentine light-brackets are supported by youthful Zephyr-heads emerging from assymetrically-scrolled cartouches of Roman acanthus and are designed in the George II 'picturesque' manner. They recall the Elements and relate to corbel patterns illustrated in Abraham Swan's British Architect, 1745
