Cantius Dillis, bought in 1804, according to an inscription on the backing.
Similar in scale and technique to the drawing that Waterloo made in about 1600 on a trip to northern Germany, L. and W. Stubbe, Anthonie Waterloo, Hamburg 1983, pls. 19, 21, 26, 33, 36-8 and 41. This drawing may be from the same period.
As the inscription on the backing indicates the present drawing was owned by the Munich landscape painter Cantius Dillis (1779-1856)
