A Dutch figured and burr-walnut longcase clock

The arched hood surmounted by a later concave caddy-top with later pierced sound frets to the frieze and sides, with later figural finials, the hood with pilasters, above a shaped rectangular trunk door inlaid with fruitwood lines and with a glazed lenticle with gilt-metal mount depicting Chronos, the case with keeled angles inlaid with fruitwood lines, on scroll feet, the dial with silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic chapters, the matted and engraved centre with subsidiary seconds ring, month, weekday and day aperture, with rolling moonphase and silvered arch inscribed Joh:George Gruning/Amsterdam, with two associated figural painted spandrels and an associated painted automaton scene in the arch depicting the Judgement of Apollo and Pan by King Midas, with two indicators to the left side for strike/not strike, one inscribed S/N next to the digit IX, with three indicators to the right side, an automatical melody change, a later melody indicator engraved No 1 till No8 and a manual melody change, the six pillar movement with anchor escapement and strike on two bells (later), the musical train playing on sixteen bells with 32 hammers, the backplate with later engraving IONE AND BILL SMALLBACK/MIKE and CRC/CROOKSHANK/8257, with engraver marks GB in various places, the painted scenes associated, previously with spandrels, various indicators and the sophisticated musical train adapted in the late 19th Century
