A Dutch polychrome-decorated cabinet
18th Century, the decoration late 19th/early 20th Century
Decorated overall with flower-heads, the waved arched cornice centred by a carved clasp, above a pair of doors with shaped rectangular panels, each decorated with various marine battles scenes, enclosing a plain interior with three shelves and four drawers, both sides decorated with a panel depicting a sailing vessel, one side with a portrait of a man, a coat-of-arms and inscribed Johan Evertsen/Luit Adm v Zeeland, the other side with a portrait of a man and a coat-of-arms, the bombé base with a drawer centred by two figures and two shields inscribed Holland/Zeeland, above two drawers and a shaped apron, on scroll feet, the handles early 19th Century
