A Dutch Louis XVI mahogany and marquetry cabinet
Late 18th Century
The moulded, canted, eared, rectangular breakfront cornice with dentilled rim above a frieze inlaid with rosettes and simulated fluting and Guttae, the doors inlaid with simulated ribbon-twist panels with paterae to the corners and with turned pilasters headed by Corinthian capitals to the angles, enclosing a plain interior with two shelves, and five drawers, the base section carved with a scaled rim above a pair of conforming doors enclosing a plain interior with two adjustable shelves, between canted panelled angles headed and terminating in acanthus, above a stepped apron centred by a classical urn, on square tapering fluted feet, originally with a broken triangular pediment, shrinkage cracks to the doors and sides
