The case with bombé plinth and canted angles, on hairy claw-and-ball feet, the rectangular trunk door with hollowed corners and a glazed lenticle with gilt-metal mount depicting a vase, the hood with turned pilasters with gilt-metal capitals, later sound frets to the frieze and sides and an acanthus clasp, surmounted by three later figural finials, the dial with Roman chapters and Arabic numerals on the silvered chapter ring with half-hour markers and signed Klaas Joh S/Andriese Grouw, the matted and engraved centre with subsidiary seconds ring, weekday and day sectors, with pierced foliate spandrels and a rolling moonphase and painted river landscape scene to the arch, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and Dutch strike on two bells, restorations
