The later case inlaid overall with scaly-bands, the bombé plinth centred by an urn, and on claw-and-ball feet, the rectangular trunk door with hollowed corners and a glazed lenticle with a mount representing the rape of Europa, the hood with simulated fluted columns and later pierced soundfrets to the frieze and sides, centred by a rockwork clasp, with a moulded spreading caddy top and later figural finials, the brass dial engraved with scaly bands and female deities, with pierced strapwork spandrels and a silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals inscribed Pieter Brant Amsterdam, the matted centre with date aperture, alarm ring and pierced black-painted hands, with a rolling moonphase above, the four pillar weight-driven movement with countwheel and two strikes on a bell, with anchor escapement and associated pendulum, the marquetry early 20th Century, restorations
