A GEORGE III GILTWOOD-FRAMED CHINESE MIRROR-PAINTING, third quarter, 18th Century
The rectangular mirror painting depicting a fisherman seated on rocks in a blue shirt and broad-rimmed hat, an elegant lady in a finely embroidered dress by his side, she is holding a rose and in a tasselled hat, a lake landscape beyond with a tree by which stands a lady holding a face-screen, within a cartouche-shaped frame with mirrored border divided by floral bands, the frame of acanthus-encrusted C-scrolls, the acanthus-spray cresting standing on confronting C-scrolls, with waved apron centred by an acanthus clasp, the reverse with paper label inscribed in ink No. 8A Mirror Right Hand No. 3 Wall, the later backboard chalked 231 Vince July 26 71
