A pair of Japanese bronze trumpet flaring vases

each with a spreading foot, decorated in silver and gilt hirazogan and takazogan with a writhing gilt dragon to the centre below trailing wisteria, four herons wading through water amongst sprays of flowering irisis encircle the foot -- 18in. (45.5cm.) high (minor pitting and surface wear).
