Lot Essay

The rich decoration of ronce d'olivier veneers on this commode is normally associated with the workshop of Christophe-André Hache (1748-2831) of the famous dynasty of Grenoble cabinet-makers. This relatively unusual veneer is also found on a cylinder-bureau attributed to Christophe-André Hache sold anonymously Christie's New York, 23 October 1998, lot 131.
