Lot Essay

A similar set of four German polychrome-decorated stag's heads with antlers, previously with Mallet & Son Ltd., London and sold from the Von Bulow Collection, Sotheby's New York, 28-29 October 1988, lot 341, were sold anonymously Christie's New York, 16-18 November 1999, lot 617 ($62,000 plus premium).
