This miniature spinning wheel was reputedly the property of Mary of Lorraine and Guise, the Queen of James V of Scotland and mother of Mary, Queen of Scots, it was originally part of a collection of Stuart memorabilia belonging to Linlithgow Palace and purchased at the sale of the effects of Charles Kirkpatrick Sharpe in 1851
