Further details
Queen Anne is usually called Anne of Denmark (1574-1619). She was the daughter of Frederick II of Denmark and Norway and married James VI of Scotland in November 1589. They had six children, of which the best known are Charles I (1600-1649) and Elizabeth, "the Winter Queen of Bohemia." Queen Anne is chiefly remembered for her extravagence (her death is supposed to have saved her husband ¨50,000 per annum in the expenses of her court alone) and her supposed sympathy for Roman Catholicism.
