The arms of those of Stepney with Lloyd in pretence, CF.D.S. Hoawrd op.cit., p.487.
Sir John Stepney was created a baronet in November 1621. His grandson Sir John married Justina, daughter and heir of Sir Anthony Vandyke. Their son, Sir Thomas Stepneu, 4th Baronet, married Margaret, the sister and coheir of Walter Vaughan, and died in 1745. Their son, Sir John Stepney, 5th Baronet, married Eleanor, daughter and heir of John Lloyd, and died in 1748. Their son, Sir Thomas Stepney, 6th Baronet, married Eleanor, daughter and heir of Thomas Lloyd, and died in 1772.
Between 1744 and 1749 this service could possibly have been made for any one of three generations and the date is probably between 1745 and 1750. Possibly for the younger Sir Thomas.
