Lot Essay

A similar, signed Still Life of Game, Bread, Cheese and a Turkey, was exhibited in Naples, Palazzo Reale, La natura morta in Italia, 1964, no. 83, and now in a private collection, Bologna, formerly attributed to Giovan Battista Ruoppolo but now accepted as Giovanni Battista Recco (see L. Salerno, La natura morta italiana, Milan, 1984, p. 116, fig. 29.2).
