A Victorian double struck fiddle and thread table service engraved with a crest and gartered motto, mostly by Mary Chawner 1839 and some matched fiddle pattern pieces comprising:
thirty six table forks
thiry five table spoons
nine dessert forks
eleven dessert spoons
two tea spoons
twelve egg spoons (some by Chawner and Adams)
four sauce ladles (one by George Adams, 1842)
two gravy spoons
a soup ladle
six salt spoons, (one by Aldwinkle and Slater, 1893)
and plain fiddle pattern flatware, engraved with similar crest, various makers and dates comprising:
twelve table forks
eighteen table spoons
twelve dessert forks
eleven dessert spoons
eighteen tea spoons
two gravy spoons
and sundry flatware, all housed in oak canteen with trade label of R & S Garrard and Co. weight of fiddle and thread cutlery = 289oz weight of the fiddle patttern cutlery = 123oz.
